Choir Programs

Find your voice, find your family: Join our choir and create lifelong friendships!

A short story…

When Maria hesitantly joined choir, she thought it would be just one of those experiences she crossed off her bucket list. She thought that nobody really would hear her sing because she is part of a group.  She thought that HER singing already sounds like cats being squashed, how can I even do this. At least she could be just another brick in the wall…

From the moment she stepped into the choir rehearsal, Maria felt an immediate sense of belonging. The warm smiles and encouraging words from fellow choir members made her feel at ease. As weeks passed, she began to notice remarkable changes within herself.

First and foremost, Maria’s singing skills improved.  The guidance and expertise of the choir director helped her refine her technique, expand her vocal range, and develop a more nuanced understanding of musical expression. Through regular rehearsals and performances, Sarah gained confidence in her abilities, growing more comfortable with sharing her voice and embracing her unique sound.

However, the benefits extended far beyond vocal development. The choir became a close-knit community where friendships bloomed. Maria found solace and support in the camaraderie of her fellow singers, who quickly became her second family. Together, they celebrated personal milestones, offered a shoulder to lean on during difficult times, and shared countless moments of joy and laughter.

The choir also provided opportunities for personal growth and self-discovery. Sarah learned valuable lessons in teamwork, discipline, and perseverance as they worked tirelessly to achieve harmonious performances. She discovered the transformative power of music, witnessing its ability to heal, uplift, and connect people from all walks of life.

As time went on, Maria’s involvement in the choir opened doors to exciting experiences. From local events to charity concerts, concerts, each performance brought with it a renewed sense of pride and accomplishment. She had not only found her voice but also discovered a supportive community, personal growth, and unforgettable experiences.

I hear these stories all the time. Well, Maria has been singing in choirs for over 50 years. The choir had become an integral part of her life, providing a sanctuary of music, friendship, and endless possibilities. Not only that, she has her friends singing in the choir and they are far from being just another face in the crowd. They are the warm and happy faces that her audiences come and hear and wait to be inspired.

Everyone can sing and learn how to sing. It’s more fun to do it in a choir.

We’ve discovered a way to make Choir more social and engaging so members can find their voice and connect with the community. However, the side effects of choir include lower blood pressure, making friends, and having a lot of laughs. This product has not been verified by Alberta Health.

Introducing: Goose Road, Raven Drive and the Black Bird Choir Programs

There is a choir for ages 7-10, 11-16, and 17 and up.

Our choir program aims to cultivate a deep appreciation for the art of singing while nurturing the unique talents and abilities of each participant. Through dedicated practice, teamwork, and the guidance of our esteemed instructors, we strive to unlock the full potential of every voice, fostering personal growth and musical excellence.

This year’s choir program promises an enchanting repertoire that spans a wide range of musical genres, from classical masterpieces to contemporary favorites. Lead by Ms. Louise Dawson, she will provide expert guidance, imparting invaluable techniques and vocal training to help our choristers reach new heights of musical expression.

In addition to honing their singing skills, participants will have the opportunity to experience the joy of collaboration, forming lifelong friendships and bonds with fellow singers who share the same love for music.

We believe that every voice has a story to tell, and we invite you to join us in sharing these stories through the captivating medium of choral music. Whether you are a seasoned singer or just beginning your musical journey, our choir program welcomes participants of all levels of experience and backgrounds.

We know there are other choirs around town. Our unique programing, professional choir directors and accompanist and performance opportunities for students allow us to give unique experiences. We will also NEVER ask you to fundraise or attend meetings like other choirs.

Here is just a sample of what students experience in the choir program:

  • Vocal Development: the programs provide vocal training and instruction, helping participants develop proper singing techniques, expand their vocal range, improve breath control, and enhance overall vocal quality. Students learn how to blend and harmonize.
  • Musical Skill Enhancement: Participants learn to read sheet music, develop sight-reading skills, understand music theory, and improve their musicality in a supportive and safe framework. These skills enhance their overall musicianship and lay a solid foundation for future musical endeavors. Students often learn their music in 2x the time because they have the accountability of the group.
  • Self-Confidence and Stage Presence: Regular performances and public appearances in choir programs contribute to the development of self-confidence and stage presence. Overcoming stage fright and delivering captivating performances instill participants with a sense of accomplishment, boosting their self-esteem and poise both on and off the stage. In other words, we have a beautiful time performing.
  • Cultural Appreciation and Awareness: The programs often explore diverse musical genres and styles, exposing participants to a wide range of cultural traditions. Through this exposure, individuals gain a greater understanding and appreciation of different cultures, fostering empathy, respect, and a broader worldview.
  • Lifelong Friendships and Social Bonds: The programs create a supportive and inclusive community, where individuals with a shared passion for music come together. Lifelong friendships and social bonds are formed through shared experiences, mutual support, and the joy of creating music together.
  • Stress Relief and Well-being: This is almost guaranteed to lower your blood pressure. Singing has been scientifically proven to reduce stress levels and promote a sense of well-being. Choir programs provide a creative outlet for participants to channel their emotions, relieve tension, and experience the therapeutic benefits of music-making.

Features & benefits

  • Weekly Accelerated Classes: This is the main way students make progress. Each week students learn new concepts. They learn all the music with us. Unlike 90 percent of studios that teach concepts and then force the kids to practice at home.
  • Age-appropriate Repertoire: Choirs struggle to find repertoire that the whole group loves and works on. It’s hard to find age-appropriate material that’s not too “kiddy” or patronizing for our older students. We have a curriculum and we select material together. Why? Well, you can have material that works for one group the same age and it completely doesn’t work in another group the same age. That’s people and life. We find the right material that the group is interested in.
  • “Student Support System” Bonus: No student in our studio ever gets stuck at home… (if they even need to practice at home). We have recorded videos and practice tracks for all of our students. We also take the time and show them how to practice at home
