The YouTube Superstar Songwriting Camp teaches kids to write their own music. It also teaches them to write a comedy TV show.

A unique summer music camp is hard to find in Alberta. Most camps focus on academic knowledge and more practicing from a book. It’s also hard to find an affordable camp that also can have day options.

When Lily thinks about music she talks about JVKE and Taylor Swift. She sees them on instagram and youtube. She dresses up in sparkly things and imitates their performances.

Lily’s friends also know the same songs and can tell you all the words. That’s how a lot of kids have become friends.

Kids want to emulate what they see. What if your child writes the songs, skits, and acts and sings? They do that instead of watching their favorite youtube stars.

Here’s a original parody song done by a group class:

Is the song weird? Absolutely and it’s original and the kids had a blast. They learned team work through songwriting and comedy.

Here is another original song by Anderson. Not only did we work on an original song, he also created his own music video for it.

“Girdle Chuck” – A Product You Should Not Use!!

I wish I had these experiences growing up and not being in the practice room alone. I wanted some friends so we can write songs and act like the Spin Doctors, Garth Brooks and Metallica.

Consider the camp an early music trade school. Kids take part in every step. They write songs, perform them live, and create their own show.

Introducing our…

YouTube Superstar Songwriting Camp

What is it?

The songwriting camp follows a show framework. It includes an opening theme song, skits, and commercials. And, there’s a grand finale. Campers are on a fictional mission to rise above obstacles and put the band back together. They have hilarious shenanigans. Their YouTube show has a positive message. It’s about redemption through the power of music.

Students put on a concert of their original band songs at the end of the week. This happens on Friday at 2 pm.

Students create their storyline. One example is about a fictitious band with problems. But, the band rises above them. The kids create the script with drama, comedy, ads, and tons of music. There YouTube show airs on the last day of camp.

Think of it like the Blues Brothers meets SNL with a touch of Rocky.

Songwriting and filming is all done at the camp.

Our team focuses on safety to make the experience fun for our students.

Many music activities take place outside, weather permitting. The Church has a large outdoor space with a public playground right behind it.

Students learn to write a different style of song each day. They will cover pop, rock, country, movie, blues, and a free choice song, if time allows. The choice depends on the group.

Students do one S.T.E.M experiment everyday. We focus on the intersection of music and science. And then we tie it all together and make fun videos.
